World gold reaches highest level in 6 months

Gold prices rose to a six-month high on Tuesday (December 27), helped by optimism surrounding China’s decision to ease Covid-19 control measures.

Closing Tuesday’s session, the spot gold contract gained 0.9% to $1,813.48 an ounce, after rising to $1,832.99 an ounce earlier in the session, its highest level since June 27, 2022. Gold futures added 1% to $1,822 an ounce.
